The Hinterland Mental Health Service, based in Moranbah (200 km west of Mackay), is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse (Grade 6) to join the Mental Health - Hinterland team. This role involves providing intake, triage, assessment, therapeutic interventions, and case management services across Child & Youth, Adult, Acute Care, and AOD services in a rural setting.Requirements
Mandatory Experience:
- Child and Youth Mental Health Service experience (supporting young people in the Isaac region)
- Mental health assessment and case management experience
- Triage experience
- Competency in completing an ECG
- AOD case management experience
- Knowledge of CIMHA, ATODS-IS, and ieMR systems
- Previous experience with QLD Health or Mackay HHS
- Knowledge of Mental Health Act 2016
- Experience working with children and adolescents
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Manual and patient handling
- Infection control
- Aggressive behaviour management
- Mandatory reporting (child abuse/neglect)
- Medications management (QPHS Regulations, Nov 2012)
- Additional training (ieMR, online induction, HHS requirements) must be undertaken if required.

Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday, 0800-1630 hrs
Days Off: Saturday, Sunday & Public Holidays
Hours: Up to 80 hours per fortnight (overtime rates apply beyond 80 hours)

- Community-based mental health service covering Child & Youth, Adult, Acute Care, and Alcohol & Other Drugs programs.
- Provides assessment, treatment, case management, triage, and crisis intervention within the Mackay HHS catchment area.
Moranbah is one of the youngest towns in Queensland, built in the 1970s to house mine workers. It has a strong community spirit and is often referred to as one of the "best kept secrets" of regional QLD.
