- Produce accurate and compliant design documentation, supporting engineering teams, and ensuring that all designs meet project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Apply and incorporate engineering knowledge standards, design guides, product datasheets, existing products and designs in order to produce reliable and economic results in a timely manner
- Demonstrate a strong capacity for creative problem-solving, offering innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges
- Proactively identify and champion opportunities for innovation throughout the design process, pushing for creative solutions
- Actively engage in iterative development, experimenting with new approaches and fine-tuning solutions to achieve optimal results
- Diagnose performance deficiencies, conceive and design remedial measures and predict performance of modified systems
- Analyse the constructability or manufacturing feasibility of a project or product
- Determine the appropriate type and quantity of data required to identify ranges of existing and future conditions in defining a problem to be resolved through design
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field
- 5+ years’ experience in High Voltage transmission, distribution, or substation design (including 220kV or higher)
- Deep understanding of HV equipment, substation layouts, and design principles
- Skilled in producing HV/MV design drawings: single-line diagrams, layouts, cable routing, and earthing. Proficient in CAD/BIM tools (AutoCAD, MicroStation); exposure to GIS/3D modelling preferred
- Familiar with drawing control processes and supporting site teams with design clarification
- Knowledge of relevant standards (AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE) and commitment to safety
- Background in secondary electrical/control systems or transmission line projects
