We are seeking exceptional candidates for the position of Assistant Director, Workforce Analytics and People Projects within our People Branch across our Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide or Sydney office CBD locations. Full-time and part-time hours are available. Offers will be based on candidate performance and operational requirements.About the RoleAs the Assistant Director Workforce Analytics and People Projects, you will work with the agency to develop and utilise workforce analytics capability that informs strategic and operational decision making, on workforce matters. You will also work collaboratively and proactively with HR peers and line managers to support the delivery of HR projects.You will lead the team to complete analysis of people risks and opportunities, deliver the internal and external workforce reporting agenda, work with the agency to develop data products and, guide the delivery and evaluation of initiatives.The role requires strong technical analytical skills and the ability to identify and communicate the ‘key issues’ to business stakeholders. You will be a hands-on manager, involved in the day-to-day delivery of workforce reporting and analysis as well as supporting the delivery and evaluation of HR projects.About the OFWOThe Office of the Fair Work Ombudsman (OFWO) is an independent statutory office established by the Fair Work Act 2009 (Fair Work Act). A range of other conditions may be required depending on the role you are applying for.About the TeamPeople Branch supports the Agency to achieve its objectives though the delivery of high-quality and efficient day-to-day HR services, development of staff capability, and strategic HR initiatives.The People Business Partnering and Workforce Analytics section, is a highly engaged area focused on partnering with the business and using data to develop customer focused solutions to key people issues.Typical DutiesThe duties of this role include, however, are not limited to:
  • Working collaboratively and proactively with HR peers and line managers to identify and provide solutions to people challenges, and improve the employee experience.
  • Working with business areas to communicate the findings of analysis, develop and implement solutions.
  • Analysing data, conducting research, and communicating clearly, in both written and verbal form, to OFWO internal stakeholders.
  • Leading analytics projects with the intent of providing an uplift to the people analytics capability within OFWO.
  • Supporting APS 5 and 6 Workforce Data Analysts and project officers in undertaking various analysis/research, projects and in the preparation of briefs.
  • Evaluating workforce initiative and programs by analysing performance data against planned outcomes.
  • Managing the agency’s response to APS workforce data initiatives, reporting on sensitive personal data, and ensuring compliance with APS workforce reporting obligations.
What we are looking forThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
  • Strong technical ability to work with and analyse workforce data using relevant software, for example Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SAP, etc.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills and a proven ability to apply these in the preparation of executive level briefs, recommendations, and advice.
  • Able to draw insights from a range of data sources and develop a compelling narrative that clearly explains complex information and influences decision making.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work with business areas to develop and implement solutions that meet customer needs.
  • An understanding of and the ability to manage data quality improvement processes and utilise a product management approach to ensure data products stay relevant to customers.
  • A well-developed understanding of OFWOs data environment and people agenda or the ability to quickly acquire one.
  • The ability to lead a team to deliver multiple cross Agency initiatives and to work with the Agency to deploy analytical and HR capability.
