You’ll manage contracts, optimise resources, deliver high-quality outcomes on time and budget, and provide expert advice to shape strategic decisions. Collaborate with stakeholders, lead a motivated team, and bring innovative ideas to life—making a real impact on the community and the region’s future.What your day will look like:
  • Oversee Operations Programs – Provide leadership and strategic direction for the delivery of capital works, maintenance programs, and infrastructure projects.
  • Project and Contract Management – Prepare, supervise, and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and best practice.
  • Technical Oversight – Provide specialist engineering advice, review designs, and support decision-making on complex infrastructure projects.
  • Strategic Planning & Resource Allocation – Contribute to departmental strategy, long-term planning, and efficient allocation of staff, plant, and financial resources.
  • Quality, Compliance & Risk Management – Implement and maintain quality control systems, ensuring projects meet regulatory, environmental, and safety standards.
  • Stakeholder & Team Leadership – Liaise with internal teams, consultants, government departments, and the community while fostering a high-performing, collaborative work environment.
Please to view a full position description.What you’ll need for success:
  • AQF Level 7 (or above) Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience in maintenance and construction of civil infrastructure projects
  • Significant experience in team management, project delivery and stakeholder engagement.
  • Demonstrated high level organisational ability including planning, WHS, human resource management, financial management and problem analysis/resolution.
  • Substantial experience in preparing tender documents, technical specifications and construction of Civil Infrastructure.
  • Proven ability to effectively contribute to the establishment, maintenance and success of work teams focused on achieving team and project goals.
  • Highly developed communication and computer skills, specifically:
  • Interpersonal: consult, partner, negotiate, listen, influence and interact effectively at all levels
  • People management: lead, motivate and coach
  • Written: guidelines and reports
  • Microsoft Office Suite: GIS and information management software would be desirable
  • Demonstrated success in complex project management, with the ability to meet time, budget, legislative and human resource constraints.
Licences:
  • Current QLD Class C Driver's Licence
  • White Card
What’s nice to have:
  • Local Government experience
  • RPEQ Certification
  • Post Graduate qualification in Project Management or similar
