- Join a team of Senior and junior planners (6 in total)
- Waterways/drainage experience not essential
- Statutory Planning experience is a must
- Full drivers license needed
- Systems used - Flood Zoom, ArcGis, CRM
- Must also be comfortable doing administrative duties
This position supports the Authority to work with community, local governments, consultants and other organisations to ensure that works on waterways and development on floodplains and in proximity to waterways is undertaken in a way that minimises the risk to human safety and the environment – consistent with the objectives of the Water Act and the Victorian Floodplain Management Strategy.
The position does this by working proactively with internal and external stakeholders at all stages in the planning process, including input into the development and review of planning processes by local government, provision of flood advice to the community, the assessment of applications for works on waterway permits and responding to planning referrals.Main responsibilities -
Provide quality recommendations on:
- referred planning applications, planning scheme amendments and government/agency referrals
- referrals relating to regional drainage, waterway health, dryland salinity, irrigation management, soil erosion, or any other land or waterway management issue identified in the local Municipal Strategic Statement
- referrals from local government on planning scheme amendments, planning and building approvals
- Works on Waterways Licence/permit applications
- required action following field inspections /enforcement for Works on Waterways applications and illegal works.
- Develop and implement data management improvement processes in support of statutory roles including flood studies and spatial mapping.
- Provide high quality customer service and administration outputs including:
- responding to verbal, written and email enquiries from members of the public
- data entry into FloodZoom
- electronic filing of records outside of FloodZoom as required
