To provide an effective and efficient mechanical service involving the repair, servicing, maintenance and overhaul of equipment and machinery. Follow all Safety procedures to ensure the safety of yourself, crew members & the environment.Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on diesel-powered equipment, including trucks, excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other heavy machinery.
- Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Preventative Maintenance:
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment operates at optimal levels.
- Replace worn or damaged parts, fluids, filters, and components as needed.
- Diagnosis and Repairs:
- Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, and hydraulic system problems.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify issues and adjust or replace faulty components.
- Safety Compliance:
- Ensure that all maintenance and repairs are performed in compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Inspect and maintain safety features on equipment, such as lighting, brakes, and fire suppression systems.
- Documentation:
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance and repair work performed on equipment.
- Document parts used, work hours, and any additional information required for reporting.
- Parts and Inventory Management:
- Manage and order spare parts and components as needed.
- Maintain an organized inventory of parts and supplies, ensuring availability for repairs.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working in the mining and heavy earthmoving industry
- Trade Qualified
- Proven experience as a Diesel Fitter or similar position in the mining or heavy equipment industry.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to work in a safe and efficient manner.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Relevant Trade qualifications – Certificate III
- Class C Drivers License
- Coal Board Medical
- Standard 11 SOA • RII – Working at Heights • RII – Confined Space
- Strong Safety Focus
- Strong work ethic
