Performs eye examinations and vision tests to determine the presence of visual, ocular and other abnormalities, and prescribes
lenses, other optical aids or therapy.Job Duties/Essential Functions
- Coach, train and mentor other Optical department employees
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality with all patient information
- Examine patients and provide expert advice on eye care
- Perform routine eye inspections
- Diagnose sight problems by performing eye tests
- Maintain accurate files for members
- Prescribe and dispense glasses and contact lenses
- Follow proper Optical Centre and general safety policies, procedures and standards
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary
- Provides prompt and courteous customer service to members, employees and suppliers.
- Computer, phone, copier, cash register, cardboard baler, trash compactor, hand held scanner, pupilometer,
Education/Training: High School Certificate or higher Training and apprenticeship or degree in Optometry (as required by state)
Licenses/Certifications: Certificate IV Optical Dispensing
Registered and licenced with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency /
Optometry Board of Australia
Experience/Skills: Appropriate Optometry or equivalent experience
Demonstrated outstanding patient care
Strong customer service, interpersonal and communication skills
Basic knowledge of Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
Basic math skillsOther specific requirements
- If successful, you will be required to undertake role & department specific training within specified timeframes
