The OpportunityWe are currently seeking a Senior Associate to join our renowned Corporate Finance -consistently ranked Band 1 by Chambers and recognised across the market for its depth, deal-making ingenuity and client-centric approach. The team sits at the heart of the Firm's Global Loans offering, generating mandates that span the full spectrum of sophisticated corporate finance transactions, from high-value bilateral and syndicated facilities to complex acquisition leveraged and structured financings with multi-jurisdictional or bespoke structuring elements. Acting for all four major Australian banks and many international investment banks, we are also on the panel of many global financial institutions and are routinely entrusted with the most significant and high-profile matters in the market.As a Senior Associate within this first-class practice you will be involved with advising on corporate finance transactions, including common terms deed platforms, syndicated and bilateral loans and cross border financings, and providing transaction structuring advice. You will be preparing, reviewing and negotiating finance documents, managing and mentoring talented junior lawyers; driving matter strategy; and liaising directly with senior stakeholders, sponsors and financiers. You will also play a pivotal role in nurturing key client relationships, contributing to thought leadership initiatives and supporting the ongoing growth of the team through business development, training and knowledge-sharing.A full job description including a breakdown of responsibilities can be found attached to the role on our careers pageWe are interested in hearing from people who have:
  • 5+ years' loan markets experience gained within a top-tier firm, respected mid-tier firm, or in-house with experience in real estate finance, including acquisition and development finance.
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating finance documents in corporate financing transactions, including bilateral and syndicated facility agreements, common terms deeds, security trust deeds and security documents. This will include familiarity with relevant APLMA precedents.
  • Experience in engaging directly with clients to progress complex transactions, including working to tight deadlines where necessary, with appropriate partner support.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and superior analytical and drafting skills.
