
Senior Electrical Engineer - Mining - Brisbane

- Assist the Project Manager, Engineering Manager and / or Lead Mechanical Engineer with defining and the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost and schedule
- Prepare engineering calculations for bulk materials handling systems, hydraulic and conveying systems as well as dewatering systems, static equipment - tanks, pressure vessels, bins and chutes
- Have experience in Shaft, Winder, Backfill - and Batching Plants
- Prepare specifications and designs of underground mining infrastructure, e.g., underground workshops, tyre bays, and other fixed facilities
- Prepare project standard specifications and design criteria
- Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications and data sheets for electrical equipment (mobile and static) with input from other disciplines
- Manage packages through their whole life cycle, from specifying requirements, completing technical bid evaluations and expediting and reviewing vendor data
- Work with designers to provide engineering input to 3D model and drawing development
- Respond to technical queries raised during the construction phase and commissioning of systems on site as required
- Be involved in preparing discipline design, studies, calculations and documentation to support feasibility studies
- carry out detailed engineering for supply and construction
- provide input into capital estimates and project schedules
- provide key discipline input to multi-discipline project teams
- participate in formal engineering review processes
- provision of on-site construction and commissioning technical support
- A degree in electrical engineering
- 7 - 12 years of post-graduate experience as an electrical engineer
- Excellent attitude towards safety and a demonstrated ability to comply with the safety requirements
- Demonstrated engineering experience in underground mining and / or shaft hoisting; and in mining and metals, energy or infrastructure sectors (or similar heavy industries)
- Preparation of project specifications, design reports and other technical documentation as required
- Experience in the investigation, planning and supervision of construction works and/or maintenance activities in operational facilities
- Have experience in performing electrical studies (e.g. load flow, arc fault, protection grading) including the use of power system modelling packages (i.e. SKM PTW, ETAP and PowerCAD); experience in field instrumentation and industrial control systems would also be advantageous.
