📅 Start ASAP | Initial contract until 30 June 2026 | 12-month extension optionAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join a large-scale federal government program focused on modernising critical ICT systems and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant projects in a secure and complex environment while working as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.As a Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing support of secure network services across on-premise and cloud environments. - Design, configure, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructure (LAN/WAN, firewalls, routing, switching).
- Monitor and optimise network operations, providing proactive support and troubleshooting for incidents.
- Contribute to planning and delivery of both BAU operations and major ICT projects.
- Support the implementation of network solutions in Microsoft Azure.
- Collaborate with geographically dispersed teams and mentor colleagues to uplift capability.
- Provide accurate advice, reporting, and technical guidance to stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience in enterprise network engineering within complex environments.
- Strong technical expertise in Layer 2 networking (VLANs, Trunks, Spanning Tree).
- Hands-on experience with Cisco technologies and secure network design.
- Exposure to Azure networking and cloud-based infrastructure.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Must hold an active NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) Security Clearance.
- Ability to work in Canberra on a hybrid arrangement (on-site and remote).
