The Role
The Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems (MIWS) Branch is a high profile organisation which is never dull and no two days are the same. MIWS is seeking professional, motivated and experienced EL 1 Logistics Managers to design, develop and sustain Support Systems for various leading edge maritime projects and products in Canberra and Adelaide. The successful candidates will be expected to undertake analysis, develop Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documentation and perform a broad range of ILS activities and supply management activities at a high standard to support the Director ILS and the Executive Director Engineering and Logistics. These positions will work in an integrated workforce consisting of APS employees, ADF members and contractors to deliver Subject Matter Expertise to projects and products across the Branch. The roles will involve considerable stakeholder engagement across complex environments and work closely with engineering teams. These roles will operate within a fast paced and dynamic working environment, requiring the incumbents to be flexible and willing to help other work areas to meet the deliverables for projects, products and MIWS Branch more broadly.About our Team
MIWS work across both Acquisition and Sustainment environments to develop and deliver products into new shipbuilding programs and to provide update/upgrade products to the existing RAN fleet, giving staff exposure to a wide variety of high profile maritime projects. Engineering & Logistics Directorate delivers logistic enabling functions in a structured matrix organisation to support MIWS Projects and Products. Engineering & Logistics provides Subject Matter Expert technical advice, and control of engineering design and manage baselines for Combat Systems, Combat Management Systems and Undersea Warfare Systems for surveillance, survey, magnetic treatment, acoustic treatment, acoustic tracking, torpedo and mine countermeasures. Engineering & Logistics has achieved, and will continue to maintain, the requirements for Accredited Engineering Organisation and Authorised Materiel Seaworthiness Delivery Organisation to deliver Maritime Mission Systems. The ideal candidates will have the following attributes and can demonstrate:
  • Experience in Integrated Logistics Support to support project delivery (note this is not Warehouse Management and Delivery); or
  • Experience in Supply Support in Product Support including the management of Navy Logistics Information Systems, processes and data.
  • Experience in management of Government Furnished supplies to support project delivery;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • The ability to build and sustain strong working relationships both internally and externally to Defence; and
  • Ability to build and manage teams of varying size comprised of an experienced APS, ADF and contractor workforce to deliver agreed outcomes on time.
