Up to 2 x Full time positions available/ fixed term until 30/04/2026 (with possibility of extension)Opportunity to join a new, innovative and growing research Centre at the University of Sydney with a core focus on gender equality and inclusion at workBase Salary, Academic Level B, from $118,390+ 17% superannuationAbout the opportunityThe newly established Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion at Work at the University of Sydney is recruiting a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to join and to help lead our growing team. The Centre builds on a significant body of research at the University which has investigated the nature of gender inequality at work, its causes, and potential pathways to better practice and outcomes. This research will be scaled in 2024 under the leadership of Centre Director and Deputy Director . As a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, you will play a critical role at this exciting time as the Centre establishes and grows.Projects you undertake as part of the Centre’s research program will contribute to driving positive change in workplaces and labour markets. The Centre aims to generate new data-informed knowledge able to inform and improve gender equality at work. The Centre’s research is organized around four key themes:designing gender equality into the future of work;addressing gender disparities and segregations to build equal and sustainable careers;build alignment in work and care regimes that work for people and organisations;motivate respectful, inclusive work cultures where all people thrive.Your key responsibilities will be to:lead the research program in one of theundertake data collection, analysis and co-authoring academic papers with senior researchers at the Centrelead the preparation and submission of applications for competitive research grants/fellowshipswork with research assistants to develop ethics submissions and satisfy reporting requirementsfurther the vision and objectives of the Australian Centre for Gender Equality and Inclusion at workAbout youHolds a PhD or nearing completion (submitted thesis) in one of the following fields: Employment relations, Economics/ Political economy, Sociology of work/ professions, Management). Other fields may be considered where relevance can be demonstrated to the Centre’s workresearch experience working on issues related to gender in/equality in work, occupations, the labour markethigh level skill in either/both quantitative or qualitative methodsskills and capacity to design, manage and disseminate findings from research projects including experience in working on mixed method teamsdemonstrated capacity to write grant applications and research proposalsdemonstrated capacity to lead the writing of academic articles for publication in leading journals, as both single author and co-authorinterest in working with stakeholders on research in organisations and industries to build positive change for gender equalityinterest in working in a high performing multi-disciplinary research team employing mixed methods approaches.Most members of our Centre work on a hybrid basis and we are comfortable with this way of working, noting that ‘in person’ working is required on a regular weekly basis as agreed within the team.To keep our community safe, please be aware of our which form our conditions of entry for all staff, students and visitors coming to campus.Sponsorship / work rights for AustraliaAustralian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.Pre-employment checksYour employment is conditional upon the completion of all roles required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
