Position SummaryAbout the RoleApplications are now open for the 2024 Monash Health Aboriginal Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Cadetship Program. The role of the Aboriginal Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Cadet is to provide support to the Nursing/Midwifery/Allied Health teams in the delivery of safe quality patient care at all Monash Health sites. All cadets will be required to complete the Monash Health Induction plus receive a local orientation period to their allocated ward/unit.About Monash HealthMonash Health is Victoria’s largest public health service. More than 22,000 employees work at over 40 care locations across southeastern Melbourne, including Monash Medical Centre, Monash Children’s Hospital, Moorabbin Hospital, Dandenong Hospital, Casey Hospital, Kingston Centre, Cranbourne Centre, and an extensive network of rehabilitation, aged care, community health and mental health facilities.About the Cadetship ProgramThe Aboriginal Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Cadetship Program offers an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student in either their final year of Enrolled Nursing study, 2nd or 3rd year of a bachelor degree in nursing or midwifery, or 3rd or 4th year of a combined Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Midwifery, or second-last or final year of an Allied Health degree, the chance to undertake their studies whilst working at a Victorian public health service.Please follow the link below to hear more about the experience of one of Monash Health's Allied Health Aboriginal Cadets:These positions are designed to work around your studies and introduce you to the important work you will do in your chosen health care field. With cultural mentoring plus supervision provided to you by a Registered Nurse/Midwife or Allied Health Clinician, you will grow your knowledge and confidence whilst working within the hospital or community setting creating a broader scope of possibilities upon graduation.A cadetship is a fixed term position, with a required minimum of eight (8) weeks full time (equivalent to 40 paid supernumerary shifts across a 12 month period) worked flexibly around your studies and other commitments with the potential for extension of your contract for subsequent years of study. Cadetship work rotations will be developed in consultation with the successful cadet to match rosters to individual learning goals and preferences where possible.The Cadetship program offers:
  • Salary for a minimum of 40 shifts of work placement
  • Clinical support and mentoring
  • Subject to availability the possibility of ongoing employment in a graduate program
To be eligible you must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student currently enrolled in the Diploma of Nursing, Bachelor of Nursing and/or Midwifery or Allied Health and live in Victoria.Rewards and Benefits:

  • In the Clinical Referee section of the CV, please provide details of two (2) references. One of the references should be someone who has worked directly with you during your clinical placement, i.e.Clinical Ungergraduate educator/facilitator/preceptor or senior nurse who can describe your clinical practice. Please ensure that contact details for both referee's are current.
