Manage the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, and supporting infrastructure.
Plan and optimise operating schedules, projects, and processes to improve performance and cost-effectiveness.
Ensure compliance with licences, environmental authorities, safety legislation, and Council policies.
Lead and develop staff through effective allocation, training, and performance management.
Oversee environmental reporting, incident investigations, and response to minimise impacts.
Engage with stakeholders by providing expert advice and resolving customer and community concerns.
Please to view a full position description.What you’ll need for success:
Certificate IV (or higher) in Water Operations (Water) or ability to obtain
Demonstrated experience at a supervisory level in the waste water industry, particularly with experience in a treatment environment
Well-developed knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment operation, capacity and limitations.
Knowledge of the risk factors and potential hazards associated with the operation of wastewater treatment plants.
Knowledge of pumping and valving systems, mechanical and electrical controls systems.
Skills and understanding of chemical dosing processes.
Knowledge of applicable Acts, Regulations, environmental and quality management systems and continuous improvement programs.
Computer literacy with a well–developed understanding of SCADA and Telemetry systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
Ability and understanding of financial management including planning, budgeting, administration and delivering excellence in customer service.
Current Class C Queensland Driver's Licence
General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or equivalent
What’s nice to have:
Bachelor's degree in science or engineering or relevant discipline
Previous Local Government experience
