- Reports to E&M Design Manager to ensure timely delivery of all electrical design works produced by design consultant.
- Serve as a technical lead specializing in hydraulic and mechanical turbine equipment analyses, designs, manufacturing inspections, operational support, and support of construction activities
- Responsible for ensuring compliance of electromechanical works design submissions with FGJV Requirements
- Responsible for the Coordination of Electromechanical design works such as: Turbine Runner, Shaft, Inlet parts, Guide and Thrust Bearings, Wicket Gates, Wicket Gates Distributor Mechanism/ safety devices /bushings, Head Cover, Bottom Ring, Discharge Ring, Stay Vanes, Stay Rings and Draft Tube liners
- Serve as the mechanical lead for the project
- Responsible for Coordination of Mechanical Balance of Plants which are under responsibility of EM Subcontractor,
- Responsible for Coordination of the design related to the steel lining elements
- Responsible for Coordination of interfaces between Civil and EM works,
- Responsible for Follow up of EM subcontractors Electromechanical Design Progress,
- Responsible for Creation and management of electromechanical design and drawings archive in design department
- Responsible for Supporting Designers for EM design information to be included in civil design drawings (blockouts, foundation drawings, embedded parts)
- Coordination with design consultant on a day-to-day basis, to provide timely construction inputs to the design & ensure timely delivery of the design packages in line with design programme.
- Review all the submissions of electromechanical design works from design consultant to ensure, all agreed assumptions & strategies are properly incorporated in to the design and provide comments in case of any deviations.
- Value Engineering & optimization is key to successful design. Hence, ensure the submission is value engineered and optimized, to ensure the design submittal is well within the tender design quantities.
- Follow-up with design consultant and ensure timely submission to FGJV in line with design programme.
- Engage with direct report / management and arrange workshops between design consultant & FGJV management, to explain the design submittal towards expedition of faster approval for the design.
- In case of any comments received from FGJV management or direct report, on the design submittal, review all the comments properly and prepare the responses with the help of the design consultant, if required.
- Ensure timely submission of responses within the allowed response period to direct report / management and arrange a comments resolution meeting between direct report / management & Design Consultant.
- Prepare project design review comment sheets on the design submittals in line with design programme
- Engage with Construction team to seek input on agreed methodology and sequence for each specific project element & provide timely clarification on design related queries to construction team whenever requested.
- Coordination with procurement team to provide information on design towards preparation of procurement packages
- Coordination with Technical Office Manager on electromechanical works to provide information on design.
- Rotation schedule 14 days on, 7 days off or 14x7.
- Tertiary Qualifications such as a, Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field

- Experience working on large scale construction projects or other suitable projects works
- Minimum 10 years of experience in Power Plant Business is desirable
- Experience in design and/or commissioning of hydro-power projects. Specifically, experience in feasibility studies of hydro-power projects and good working knowledge of all typical mechanical elements, ideally with experience in both turbine and balance of plant related topics
- Experience in turbine mechanical and hydraulic design work on hydro-power facilities.
- Demonstrated significant understanding and capabilities in stress and structural analysis, finite element analysis, and fatigue of welded steel structures
- Solid technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Strong verbal and communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise English
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritize around deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skill
- Skilled in oral and written communication, with a demonstrated ability to present planning and scheduling information to management and clients
