St Vincent’s Mental Health provide ongoing specialist treatment and support to meet the identified needs of consumers who suffer with a serious mental illness and associated high level of recovery support needs in the cities of Yarra and Boroondara. During your postgraduate year in community, you will have the opportunity to learn and develop your skills in a supportive environment, working closely with your preceptor and the opportunity to participate in group supervision.The 12-month structured program provides an opportunity to work in the Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment Team (APATT), based at St George’s Hospital, Kew, Clarendon Adult Mental Health Clinic in the Continuing Care Team (CCT), Mobile Support Team (MST) or Clarendon Homeless Outreach Program (CHOPS) and/or the Hawthorn Adult Mental health clinic in the CCT, MST or Brief Interventions Team (BIT).St Vincent’s Mental Health is committed the recruitment and retention of high-quality staff. The service has a strong education and research focus in addition to affiliations with a number of universities and educational institutions. All St Vincent’s Mental Health clinical staff are expected to be familiar, and practice in a manner consistent with the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health WorkforceDuties include (please see position description for further duties):Supporting consumers throughout their recovery journeys and working alongside the multidisciplinary teamActively upholding a culture of hope by using optimistic language, supporting people and celebrating consumer’s recovery efforts;Supporting consumers with available resources to achieve their recovery goals through education and support around medication, coping strategies and symptom managementActively challenging stigmatizing attitudes, discrimination and social exclusion in line with the Recovery Model of Mental Health Care.Participating in consumer assessment, care planning and discharge planning.Classifications for these positions will be Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 2 Year 2 NP21 ($71,333 per annum pro rata)Your ContributionDegree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)Current Nursing Registration with AHPRAEnrolment in a postgraduate diploma of mental health nursing at a tertiary universityCurrent National criminal history check, or willing to obtainWhat We Offer
