The OrganisationThis health service is the major regional health provider for the Lower, Mid and Upper South East regions of South Australia.You will be working at the largest hospital in rural South Australia, a 98-bed teaching hospital, which provides a range of acute services from in-hospital care by local GPs to Specialist surgical, obstetric, paediatric and anaesthetic services. Services also include accident and emergency care, day and in-patient surgery, mental health services including an in-patient unit, aboriginal health and community health.There are 37 medical beds, 36 surgical beds, a 6-bed High Dependency unit, a 20-bed maternity-paediatric ward and a 6-bed mental health unit. Facilities are provided for chemotherapy, dialysis and day surgery. The hospital has 4 operating theatres, 11 day surgery chairs and 3 delivery suites.
The Job
  • As a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, you will provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to orthopaedic patients
  • You will actively be involved in teaching Trainee Medical Officers, interns and medical students and, where appropriate, nursing and allied health staff
  • Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons participate in clinical audit, quality, safety and clinical risk management activities, as well as participating in research and continuous medical education activities
  • You will engage in clinical leadership and contribute to a multidisciplinary approach to the delivery of patient care

Requirements
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in orthopaedic surgery, or equivalent
