We are seeking someone with strong experience working with children impacted by trauma, alongside the skills to support women through complex and sensitive journeys.About the Role
This diverse position supports clients through:
- Children’s counselling using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate approaches.
- Intake, risk assessment and safety planning for women and children.
- Individual counselling and psychoeducation for women.
- Court support for clients navigating DFV-related legal systems.
- Women’s advocacy, including referral pathways, safety upgrades, and practical supports.
- Group work delivery to support healing and education.
- Liaison with key stakeholders including Child Safety, Police, Corrections and Housing.
- Potential rotation in local police stations to strengthen community response.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Minimum two yearsu0027 experience in DFV counselling, risk assessment, court support, and group work.
- Demonstrated understanding of gendered violence, the DFV Act, Child Protection Act and Family Law Act.
- A well-developed practice framework that aligns with trauma-informed, strengths-based approaches.
- Experience supporting diverse families with complex needs.
- Strong skills in report writing, case notes, data entry and professional communication
- A calm, resilient presence in high-pressure and confronting situations.
- The ability to work collaboratively within a professional team and engage sensitively with clients and stakeholders.
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural or Social Science.
- Eligibility for membership with AASW, APS, ACA or PACFA.
- Current QLD Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
- National Police Check (within the last 3 months or willingness to apply).
- Current Driver’s Licence.
- Evidence of Australian working rights.
