As an Executive Leader, reporting to the Head of Platform Supply Chain, you will lead a team of professionals responsible for the development, negotiation, implementation and management of major subcontracts to meet the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) This unique opportunity requires an individual with excellent engagement skills to lead multiple stakeholders in delivering an aligned strategy whilst applying their procurement acumen to maximize value and minimize risk for the program.We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/ or hybrid working.Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead a major subcontract domain and be accountable for complex platform systems .
  • Direct all aspects of performance as the Control Account Manager, tracking and reporting on performance, risk, and quality against targets.
  • Oversee a team of 5-7, focusing on their professional development and ensuring employee welfare.
  • Engage directly with suppliers, including managing directors, to resolve performance concerns and mitigate risks.
  • Present and negotiate with the HCFP management committee regarding subcontract approvals and performance issues.
  • Build and maintain a cross-functional relationship with all stakeholders to ensure timely and effective decision-making.
About YOU
  • Prior defence sector procurement and contract management experience is considered a significant advantage.
  • Degree qualification in engineering or commercial discipline with professional procurement qualification will be highly regarded.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (MCIPS) will be highly regarded.
  • Strong commercial skill and acumen with proven capability in contract negotiations in Defence or related industries.
  • Well-developed leadership experience either through management of a team or the leadership of complex projects.
  • Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
