An opportunity exists for an experienced and community-focused Waste Management Officer to join a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical waste and resource recovery services.In this operational role, you’ll work across a variety of functions — from attending transfer stations and assisting customers, to operating plant and equipment and ensuring compliance with environmental standards. Every day brings the chance to make a tangible difference to how waste is managed and recycled in the region.Key Responsibilities
  • Provide excellent customer service to members of the public and colleagues
  • Perform duties at drop-off zones, transfer stations, and the weighbridge
  • Conduct labouring tasks including litter collection, weeding, and grounds maintenance
  • Operate relevant plant and equipment safely and effectively
  • Complete required records (e.g. work orders, WHS forms, weighbridge tickets)
  • Contribute to environmental monitoring, site safety, and compliance tasks
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
What You’ll Need
Essential:
  • Experience in the waste management or resource recovery industry
  • Physical fitness and willingness to perform hands-on labour
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and outside standard hours
  • Class C driver licence (manual transmission)
  • Immunisation against Hepatitis A & B (or willingness to participate in program)
  • Understanding of WHS, EEO, and safe work practices
Desirable:
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • HR driver licence and driving experience
  • Experience in weighbridge operations and computer systems
  • Front End Loader and/or Forklift ticket
  • White Card (Construction Induction)
  • Knowledge of environmental and risk compliance in waste services
  • Working Near Overhead Powerlines certification
