We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Driver Assistants working across multiply site locations in the Hunter and Newcastle region. About the RoleAs a Casual Locomotive Driver Assistant, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of rail services. You’ll work closely with Train Crew, Operational Staff, Maintenance and Terminal teams, as well as Network Control, in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. This role offers valuable hands-on experience, where you’ll assist in a variety of rail operational tasks while being supported by a dedicated team.Your Training Journey
  • Initial paid classroom & practical training (38 hours per week).
  • Assist in various rail operational tasks, gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.
  • For the duration of the classroom training program, you will be paid $30.35 gross per hour plus super.

  • Local: Residing in or near Greta/Newcastle.
Requirements
  • Ability to pass a CAT 1 Rail Medical and fitness assessment
  • Current full Class C or higher Driver’s Licence (no restrictions)
  • Valid National Police Clearance (with no court outcomes)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills to complete written assessments
