- Collaborate with the enterprise and public sector sales teams to develop and execute targeted account penetration strategies, including within state, federal, verticals
- Build trust and rapport with customers and prospects, including government and regulated industry stakeholders, and be their main technical point of contact throughout the process.
- Deliver compelling product demonstrations that address today’s most pressing cyber threats, including threats specific to government (e.g., sovereign risk, critical infrastructure targeting, insider risk)
- Work closely with customer/prospect security staff for technical discovery, as well as planning, execution and wrap-up of Proof-of-Concept (POC) and Production Evaluations
- You will design and champion complex People-Centric Security solutions encompassing the entire Proofpoint portfolio, mapped to government-mandated frameworks such as Essential Eight, ISM, NIST, and ACSC guidelines
- You may, occasionally, be called upon to assist in professional services deployments, technical training, and to present at or attend industry seminars and/or government cybersecurity forums and trade shows
- You will be able to provide valuable customer insight and real-world experiences—including from the government vertical to Product Management, Marketing and Engineering teams to help keep our solutions best-in-class
- You will become an expert in Email Security Gateways, Advanced Persistent Threats, Threat Detection and Response, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), and the evolving threat landscape targeting the public sector
- Willingness to regularly travel interstate and occasionally engage in onsite activities with government departments and agencies
- Mentoring new team members in multiple areas, including Proofpoint products, sales process, and relationship management with both commercial and government customers
- Develop and deliver training presentations to peers, account managers, and other teams within Proofpoint, including knowledge transfer on government compliance and public-sector sales nuances
- Contribute across all corporate communication channels, write, and help upkeep internal documentation and training
- Help develop solutions to common challenges and establish processes within the local team, department, and across the sales engineering organisation
- 5+ years of hands-on technical experience, either as a Sales/Systems Engineer, Technical Account Manager, Security Engineer, ideally including exposure to government or regulated verticals
- Collaborate with our sales teams and partners with high-touch pre-sales technical activity, especially within state and federal departments
- Experience responding to government tenders, IRAP assessments, and compliance reviews
- Self-starter and ability to own and drive initiativee
- Comfortable presenting to individuals and/or teams, including technical staff through to senior public officials and CISO-level stakeholders
- Experience in Enterprise or Cloud Security, including cloud/SaaS platforms, messaging, data, network, endpoint, NOC/SOC, or MSP-related cybersecurity
- Experience selling and positioning a platform is highly valued, particularly within government procurement frameworks
- Exposure to at least two of the following skill sets are recommended:
- IT security, vulnerability or risk assessments, and policy enforcement aligned to government frameworks
- Data Loss Prevention (DLP), compliance, privacy—including cross-border or government-specific data handling
- Enterprise email solutions such as O365, Exchange, G-Suite, or working knowledge of SMTP * You can thrive in a fast paced, high-energy environment
- You can work independently, adapt quickly, and maintain a positive attitude
- Strong PowerPoint, presentation and organisational skills are a must
- CISSP or other relevant cyber-security and/or cloud security certifications are valued
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience
- Email authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
- Networking and protocols such as SMTP, DNS, LDAP, HTTP, etc.
- Experience with security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, NIST 800-53, ACSC Essential Eight, and ISM
- You have a background in a consultative approach to solving problems and/or have a strong desire to pivot your career towards a sales direction
