This sub-regional health service is located 200 kilometres from Melbourne and is affiliated with Monash University's School of Rural Health. The Health Service provides beds across three campuses and provides acute services with visiting sub-specialty services.The maternity unit is staffed by four Consultant Obstetricians and Gynaecologists and a specialist team of midwives, obstetricians, and paediatricians who work together to deliver approximately 450 babies each year. The unit has a Special Care Nursery with high and low-care cots and caters for babies as young as 34 weeks.The Job
- As a Consultant of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you will provide specialist O&G services within the hospital including inpatients, antenatal clinic, emergency department and outreach services as required
- Consultants will provide gynaecology and obstetric clinics and will have scheduled theatre sessions
- You will provide leadership for junior medical staff, midwives and nurses through participation in continuing education, peer review and clinical governance activities
- Support the development of a woman-centred model of care in consultation with other stakeholders
- Weekday commitments include first on-call
