We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.About the roleAre you passionate about assisting family and carers to practice self-care whilst being there for their loved one in recovery?An opportunity now exists for a Senior Carer Peer Worker to join the Brief Intervention Team, which incorporates a suicide prevention stream (Hospital Outreach Post-suicide attempt Engagement - HOPE). The role will facilitate improvement of the mental health and wellbeing service responsiveness for loved ones, carers/chosen families of service users as the person moves towards their hoped-for outcome in recovery. This will be achieved through working collaboratively with the families/carers (as your focus) and ongoing collaboration with clinical and non-clinical team members as we support the service user. You will have the ability to reflect on your own carer lived experience/expertise and be able to use your experience to support others. Ideally this will occur using the Intentional Peer Support framework. In addition, the Senior Consumer Peer Worker will provide leadership support to other lived experience Carer peer workers.For more information on our Lived Experience Workforce, please visit our website.About youTo be successful in this role you will possess:
Lived experience or expertise as a carer or supporter of someone who has accessed public mental health services
Understanding of mental health peer work support principles and ability to use peer support to provide hope, a belief in recovery and the value of self-care.
Substantial experience in mental health carer/supporter lived experience/expertise role.
Experience and capacity in the leadership of Lived Experience professionals.
Highly developed interpersonal and leadership experience
A strong commitment to high quality care
The ability to work as part of a diverse team
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the .
