
Nurse Unit Manager – ICU | Newcastle

- Ensuring the model of nursing care within the department is relationship-centred, prioritising optimal patient safety and outcomes;
- Coordinating patient services, including admissions and discharges, while liaising with interdisciplinary teams, clinical emergency response teams, and ICU outreach services;
- Providing clinical support and guidance where required;
- Understanding legislative requirements and national standards;
- Identifying opportunities for program development and service enhancement, while facilitating and supporting quality teamwork within the service and across other departments the hospital;
- Encouraging a participatory team approach to clinical care, gathering ideas and strategies to improve care and service delivery;
- Working closely with intensive care specialists, physicians, surgeons, and anaesthetists to ensure high-quality care delivery, service efficiency, and strong professional relationships;
- Developing talent within the team and demonstrating key skills and attributes.
- Current Registration with AHPRA;
- Current registration with AHPRA - Registered Nurse;
- Postgraduate qualification in intensive care/critical care nursing;
- Advanced clinical competence;
- Demonstrated recent experience in a clinical leadership role/s;
- Proven experience building and leading high-performing teams with a service excellence approach;
- Passionate about building strong relationships and delivering exceptional patient experiences;
- Demonstrated skills in workforce planning, rostering creativity and working within budget;
- High level of planning and organisational skills;
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to adapt personal style to suit a varied audience & a variety of interpersonal styles;
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills;
- High degree of computer literacy;
- Postgraduate qualification in leadership or health management (or equivalent) or working towards.
