ABOUT THE ROLEThis is a full-time, senior leadership role in which you will oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, including food production, team leadership, cost control, compliance, and menu development.As Head Chef, you will be responsible for setting the standard across all kitchen sections. You will work closely with the Venue Manager and kitchen leadership team to ensure consistently high-quality service and output. RESPONSIBILITIESLead a team of chefs, cooks, and kitchenhands through busy services with confidence and professionalism.Design and deliver seasonal menus that reflect the venue’s identity and meet customer expectationsMaintain high standards of food presentation, consistency, portion control, and quality.Manage food safety and WHS compliance, including temperature logs, allergen procedures, and cleaning schedules.Oversee ordering, stock control, supplier management, and cost control in line with budgets.Recruit, train, roster, and support a productive and positive kitchen teamRespond to feedback and collaborate with front-of-house to ensure excellent guest experiencesDrive a safe, efficient, and supportive kitchen culture that reflects Matthews Hospitality’s values ABOUT YOUPrevious experience as a Head Chef or senior role in a high-volume, à la carte venueCertificate III in Commercial Cookery (minimum requirement)Strong leadership skills and the ability to mentor junior team members and apprenticesSkilled across all sections with a focus on quality, efficiency, and professionalismClear understanding of food safety, WHS requirements, and allergen managementAble to manage kitchen budgets, costings, rosters, and stock with accuracyExcellent time management, communication, and problem-solving skillsCalm under pressure, committed to standards, and supportive of team development WHAT WE OFFERTotal package starting from $110,000, depending on experience
