Operate and maintain the City’s irrigation systems.Duties:
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs of irrigation systems
- Conduct inspections and testing on commercial irrigation systems
- Program irrigation controllers to meet operational requirements
- Modify current irrigation systems / install new irrigation systems
- Operate small plant / equipment
- Maintain tools, equipment and plant
- Liaise / work with supervisors and other City service units
- Respond to public / customer enquiries
- Provide work reports
- Report immediately to supervisor any field conditions that could pose a risk to public or sporting user groups
- Comply with all policies and procedures and relevant legislation
- Exercise duty of care in line with Health and Safety policies
- Operations and maintenance experience with commercial irrigation systems
- Proven communication skills
- Experience in the efficient use of information systems and technology
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Capable of physical manual labour
- C class vehicle licence
- Safety awareness certification
- National Police Clearance less than three months old
- Knowledge of the practical application of Work Health and Safety measures in the workplace including hazard identification in parks and reserves
- First Aid certification
- Knowledge of bore, pump and motor systems
