Position: Sous ChefPosition Type: Full-TimeSalary: $77,000 plus superannuation per annumLocation: Windsor QLD 4030Our client is seeking skilled Sous Chef to join their team located in Windsor, Queensland.As a Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team to create delicious, high-quality dishes that complement our signature coffee offerings. You will play a key role in overseeing the daily kitchen operations, ensuring food is prepared to the highest standard, and maintaining a positive, efficient kitchen environment. Planning Menus, estimating food and labour costs and ordering food supplies.
Check the quality of raw or cooked food products to ensure that standards are met.
Discussing food preparation issues with manager/owner and kitchen staff
Ensuring all kitchen staff understand expectations and parameters of kitchen goals and daily kitchen work.
Determine production schedules and staff requirements necessary to ensure timely delivery of services.
Analyse recipes to assign prices to menu items, based on food, labour and overload costs.
Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures
Inspecting supplies, equipment, or work areas to ensure conformance to established standards managing time through effective planning to maintain a high level of productivity.
Coordinate planning, budgeting, or purchasing for all the food operations within the establishment.
Collaborate with other personnel to plan and develop recipes or menus, taking into account such factors as seasonal availability of ingredients or they likely numbers of customers.
Motivating the team to create a memorable experience for all customers.
Participating in the cost controlling and waste management of food
Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
Maintain updated knowledge of local competition and restaurant industry trends.
Demonstrate new cooking techniques or equipment to staff.
Requirements:
Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Hospitality Management
At least two (2) years of relevant experience as a Chef or equivalent role
Proven experience working in a kitchen that specializes in brunch dishes, such as eggs Benny, avocado toast, salads, sandwiches, and baked goods. A strong knowledge of brunch cooking techniques is essential.
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Knowledge and understanding of running a kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
Ability to train and assist other kitchen staff
Must be available to work weekends and public holidays.
