- Support the VP External Affairs & Social Performance to mature OceanaGold’s approach, systems, performance and governance in relation to social performance and human rights
- Actively support the development and implementation of external affairs and social performance standards, including supporting capability development and the rollout and compliance monitoring across the business
- Lead the implementation of a Social Performance data management system, facilitating improved data management, analysis and reporting for the functions at sites and Centre office
- Lead, coordinate, evolve the strategy and reporting of OceanaGold’s approach to modern slavery and responsible supply chain (including third party supplier risk), actively collaborating with and coordinating inputs from other expert functions
- Leverage and champion the interfaces and collaboration across functions and within the business to develop, steward and mature a sustainable development framework that supports the sites and business to effectively design, monitor and measure meaningful socio-socioeconomic outcomes and sustainable livelihoods in host communities
- Be an active contributor to the sustainability team, including collaborating on the ongoing evolution and implementation of the sustainability strategy, sustainability reporting, awareness and advocacy for sustainable outcomes, and seeking creative cross functional outcomes.
- Tertiary qualifications in Social Science, International Development, Human Rights, or related discipline required.
- 7 + years demonstrated experience in a similar role, preferably including experience working in the extractive industries such as mining, oil & gas, or other heavy industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Social Performance in the extractive industry is required. Understanding of key Human Rights concepts and international frameworks (such as UNGP's, FPIC, IFC Standards etc) is important. While prior experience related to responsible supply chain management and modern slavery is highly regarded but not essential.
- International experience, and/or experience working with teams in emerging/developing countries is desirable.
- Sustainable development, local content strategies and/or effective community/partnership agreement making.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and lead complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
- Ability to write effective and high quality reports and actively engage senior management on emerging risks and opportunities related to External Affairs and Social Performance are key deliverables and essential qualities.
- Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with culturally diverse stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and navigate sensitive cultural contexts.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to translate complex information into actionable insights.
- Knowledge of modern slavery reporting and experience in sustainability report writing.
- Proven experience in stakeholder engagement, and community consultation and engagement, particularly in the context of extractive industries and sites is highly desirable
