Job Category: Frontline Trades and LabourJob Description:About the RoleDowner is seeking a proactive and reliable Site Caretakers/Handyperson to oversee daily operations and maintenance. These hands-on roles are responsible for managing contractors, maintaining building standards, and ensuring a clean, safe, and operational school environment year-round.These are Full Time positions working Monday - FridayThe sites we currently have vacancies are :Roma Mitchell Secondary CollegeMark Oliphant CollegeYou'll be the on-the-ground leader, coordinating trades and services to meet contract specifications while upholding the highest safety and quality standards.Key Responsibilities

Supervise and coordinate daily site operations including cleaning, grounds keeping, and general maintenance
Manage contractor access and ensure work is completed safely and to Downer standards
Conduct routine inspections, stocktakes, and audits to ensure compliance with service agreements
Monitor and report on equipment use, maintenance issues, and site safety
Assist with closing responsibilities and out-of-hours events on a rotating roster
Maintain strong communication with school staff, service providers, and management
Uphold OH&S protocols and lead a culture of safety on-site

About you:

Previous experience in site, facility, or contractor management (desirable)
Background in maintenance, cleaning, or building operations
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks
Working knowledge of health and safety practices
Ability to work flexible hours and rotating shifts

Requirements:

Current SA Driver's Licence (mandatory)
SA Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
Willingness to complete Downer training modules and a pre-employment medical assessment
