ALS Environmental operates a state-of-the-art commercial laboratory in Springvale, Melbourne, equipped with the latest technology.We are currently seeking Full Time Instrument Chemist on a fixed term 12 month basis to join our high-performing team committed to exceeding client expectations. These roles involve a variety of laboratory tasks, including sample receipt and processing, in a fast-paced environment where precision and efficiency are essential.Ability to work an 8 hour late day shift 10.30am – 6.45pm.The Day to Day:
The successful applicants will undertake a range of duties including the following:
- Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with the Quality Procedures Manual
- Supervision and training of laboratory staff
- Prioritising daily workload
- Operation and maintenance of instrumentation
- Reporting of results in accordance with Quality work instructions
- Ensuring compliance with the laboratory’s QC and HSE requirements
- Preparing standards for sample analysis
- Maintaining relevant documentation
- Excellent attention to detail, communications and organisational skills in a fast-paced work environment.
- At least 2 years’ experience in a commercial laboratory
- Previous experience operating with GC/FID, GCMS or LCMSMS required
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent (Honours and Chemistry disciplines advantageous but all science backgrounds are encouraged to apply)
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A working knowledge of organic sample preparation techniques for Environmental samples. PFAS experience would be highly regarded.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Interest in method development, verification and validation
- A working knowledge of lab safety requirements
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
- A keen interest in organic chemistry and associated analysis
