- This is an identified Aboriginal Health position. Applicants must be a person of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent. An applicant's race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14 of the Antidiscrimination Act 1977 NSW. Aboriginal applicants must demonstrate Aboriginality in addition to addressing the selection criteria.
- Bachelor degree or higher level relative to role (including Bachelor Health Science (Mental Health) for Djirruwang Program graduates.
- For Allied Health staff - Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for Occupational Therapy or Psychology professions, or eligibility for membership of Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) for Social Work.
- For Nursing staff - Current unrestricted authority to practice as a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who has at least three years full time equivalent post registration experience in mental health, and approved post registration tertiary qualification in mental health.
- The CTT is a statewide service, supporting people from several correctional centres across Sydney metropolitan and regional NSW, and liaising with all NSW Health Local Health Districts. There is a requirement to travel to various locations across NSW, on occasion.
- Please provide an example of a challenging interaction with a patient in a mental health setting where you were able to remain calm and composed under pressure. What were your keys to success and how did you utilise your culture connections and understanding to achieve a positive outcome?
- Describe a situation where you identified culturally unsafe practice. How did you communicate this and improve the cultural awareness and practice of the team, while maintaining the delivery of safe person-centred care?
