About the job OT Cyber Security Engineer - ContractOur Client is looking for a skilled Operational Technology (OT) Cyber Security Engineer to join their team. You will work closely with our clients stakeholders to ensure cyber security controls and solutions are designed, configured, and deployed in line with organisational standards and industry best practice. The role provides technical expertise for OT environments, focusing on secure network design, firewall configuration, and access control.This role is initially a 6-month contract based in the Western Suburbs, Melbourne, with the likelihood of extensions for the right candidate. Note. The successful candidate is required to be onsite 3 dpw. Generally the connect days in the office are Tuesday/Thursday and the other onsite day is flexible.Please note, to apply applicants must have the following:
  • The requisite skills and experience defined below,
  • At least a Working Visa or Australian Permanent Residence working rights, and
  • 6+ years in Technology roles, with at least 3 years specifically in Cyber Security.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a technical subject matter expert for OT networks, firewall rule configuration, and migration activities.
  • Analyse and document dataflows to define access requirements and support secure technical design decisions.
  • Produce detailed network and solution design documentation.
  • Participate in workshops and technical reviews to validate alignment with security and architectural standards.
  • Contribute to the development of OT-specific security standards and technical patterns.
  • Support firewall rule optimisation, authentication design, and access control enforcement.
What we are looking for:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, Security+, GSEC, GICSP.
  • 6+ years in Technology roles, with at least 3 years specifically in Cyber Security.
  • Experience in network engineering, including configuration and change management.
  • Proven ability to manage security, identity, and network technologies in highly segmented or isolated environments where availability is critical.
  • Strong hands-on experience with security technologies such as EDR, remote access, HSMs, and application control.
  • Familiarity with control systems (e.g. SCADA, PLCs) and industrial networking principles.
  • Experience deploying and implementing domain and related services in isolated environments (DNS, AD, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop security processes, procedures, and transition-to-operations documentation.
  • Ability to apply broad knowledge of network, infrastructure, and cybersecurity to resolve evolving challenges.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
