NQ Dry Tropics is seeking an experienced project manager and relationship builder who is passionate about supporting communities across the Burdekin region to strengthen their resilience to climate impacts.The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with universities, climate and industry experts, and agricultural extension staff, and delivering projects to help farmers, Traditional Owners and communities access the information they need to become more drought and climate resilient.Key duties and responsibilities
  • Coordinate, deliver and add value to a range of climate resilience projects.
  • Project management responsibilities, including managing delivery of contractual commitments, operational budgets and progress reporting to investors.
  • Regularly collaborate with key delivery partners and other teams within NQ Dry Tropics, and supervise project officers.
  • Support field officers to engage with landholders on drought and climate adaptation strategies.
  • Proactively identify and help generate communication and education materials.
Requirements
  • High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong track record of maintaining and developing effective relationships with colleagues as well as a diverse range of stakeholders including Traditional Owners, landholders, researchers, government agencies, and universities.
  • High-level organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise work activities in a demanding environment to achieve time sensitive milestones within budget for multiple projects.
  • Ability to think creatively and identify issues and solutions to expedite climate ready land management, and add value to existing projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in agriculture (particularly the grazing industry), natural resource management or a closely-related field, with the analytical skills to identify key gaps and opportunities.
  • Practical experience in drought and climate adaptation, especially in the agriculture sector or policy/strategy planning processes will be highly regarded.
