- Initial 8 month contract with 2 x optional extensions (1 x 12 months and 1 x 7 months)

- Contributing to the development, implementation and evaluation of communication and engagement plans and strategies to facilitate stakeholder input to active transport projects, and to promote projects outputs and outcomes across the department and to external audiences
- Developing engaging content and communication and engagement materials for a variety of channels and audiences, and in alignment with departmental and government writing and accessibility guidelines. Materials and channels include: websites, media statements, newsletter articles, videos, social media, electronic direct messages, presentations, publications and reports and so on
- Monitor and report on implementation of the Queensland Cycling Action Plan 2023–2025 (and the Action Plan for Walking as required), including establishing and maintaining effective relationships with action leads from other Queensland Government departments and agencies
- Monitor and coordinate updates to the information on bike riding and walking in Queensland available through online platforms
- Providing accurate and timely advice on communication/engagement progress and issues that may impact on project delivery
- Liaising, consulting and maintaining effective relationships with team members, and internal and external clients and stakeholders to provide high-quality communication advice and tactical support
- Support delivery of other Cycling and Walking team activities and initiatives as required (e.g. undertake research, draft correspondence, organise workshops, develop presentations, take minutes, collate feedback, report on projects, assist with development of project documentation)
- Raising awareness of departmental resources and approaches to positive messaging and framing for active transport with colleagues across Queensland Government.
- Tertiary qualified in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing or similar field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proven ability to translate complex information and technical jargon into simple, customer-focused communication
- Familiarity with, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of, Queensland Government writing and web writing guidelines, accessibility requirements, media protocols and social media platforms
- Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Teams, Powerpoint, Microsoft Outlook – Individual and Group Email.
