The OrganisationThis Health Service serves a population of around 32,000 people, across one regional hospital, two multipurpose health services, three remote hospitals, four primary health clinics and five community health centres. It covers an area of approximately 300,000 square kilometres and services many of the remote communities within North Western Queensland and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Over 16 per cent of the local population identify as Aboriginal peoples and Torres Strait Islander peoples.You will work in the main referral centre within the Health Service which provides ambulatory, sub-ambulatory, inpatient and specialist outreach patient services. The integrated Mental Health and Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs service provides crisis intervention, psychiatric services, homeless health, outreach and a specialised mental health service for children and young people.
The Job

The role is a challenging, interesting and diverse one; you will provide specialist psychiatric knowledge and skills and deliver quality mental health care to patients
You will participate in mental health service strategic planning and provide professional leadership within the mental health service
You will have the opportunity to train, educate and supervise medical staff and other healthcare professionals
You will participate in the shared after-hours on-call roster, which includes patients across the age continuum

Rewards

Excellent salary package up to $583,039
Allowances may include: Attraction and retention incentive allowance of 35%-50% base annual salary, Regional and rural attraction allowance of 15% base annual salary, Inaccessibility allowance of $34,500 p.a, Motor vehicle allowance
Rent-free accommodation (up to 17 months) and salary packaging options are available

Requirements

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP), or equivalent
Experience in Addiction psychiatry is highly desirable
