The role is well suited to take advantage of the flexible working arrangements the University offers to enable staff to balance work with other commitments.The successful candidate will undertake industry-motived applied research in the field of Electromagnetics and Electronics Engineering; and help to identify and foster the next generation of researchers by contributing to the teaching of relevant courses at the University.In the role you will-individually and in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team- undertake and report on applied research that addresses the needs of CIRA's industry partners and clients. You will be expected to communicate and promote research outcomes via reports, academic articles, presentations, and demonstrations. You will also contribute the growth of CIRA's research endeavour by developing novel prototypes and demonstrations that lay the foundations for compelling research proposals and pursuing funding opportunities to realise them.A significant part of CIRA's mission is to train and grow Australia's STEM workforce. In this role, you will support this by teaching into relevant courses, supervising student and intern projects, and creating and supporting opportunities for direct student participation in CIRA's research activities.The position will involve collaboration with other personnel in CIRA including the Engineering Operations and Translation and Impact teams, and research students and interns, on a day-to-day basis. PhD degree by research qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. electrical/electronic engineering, physics, or materials engineering).
Experience in teaching Electromagnetics and Transmission Lines, Wireless Communications, and/or RF/Microwave Engineering.
Evidence of high-quality teaching and student support.
Familiarity with simulation tools for microwave/radio frequency electronics such as Cadence AWR, electromagnetic simulation such as FEKO and/or Ansys HFSS, and/or IC design tool such as Cadence Virtuoso & Spectre.
Experience performing measurements at radio/microwave frequencies involving electronic circuits/systems (such as CMOS circuits) and interpreting the measurement results.
Evidence of research outputs and communication of methods and results.
Commitment to principles of equity and diversity and demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Desirable Criteria:

Leadership and experience in developing high-quality curriculum and assessment in the above teaching areas.
Experience with radio astronomy interferometry and instrumentation.
Experience with IC design and semiconductor modelling.
