This hands-on role provides students undertaking the Certificate IV in Boating Services with the opportunity to gain practical experience in a busy marine service and restoration workshop. Under supervision, the student will assist qualified tradespeople and technicians in a range of tasks related to boat building, restoration, and fit outs.The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and a willingness to contribute to workshop operations by identifying tasks, assisting where needed, and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with boat restoration projects, including gelcoat repairs and restoration
  • Support canvas fitting and minor upholstery repairs
  • Remove and replace deck and hull hardware and skin fittings
  • Prepare and paint aluminium hulls under guidance
  • Perform trailer adjustments and maintenance tasks
  • Assist with installing electronics on new and used boats
  • Support the fitting of trolling motors and other custom accessories
  • Take part in complete vessel fitouts and repowering projects
  • Keep the workspace organised, clean, and safe
  • Take initiative to identify tasks that need doing and support team members proactively

Work Schedule:
  • Term Time: Monday to Thursday (up to 4 days per week) – only 3 days paid, 1 day unpaid structured workplace training
  • Term Breaks: Full-time availability optional (with 1 unpaid training day per week still applicable)
This position is offered as part of the student's formal Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) requirement for the Certificate IV in Boating Services. A training agreement and Memorandum of Understanding have been signed between Regal Marine and the Australian College of Pioneers (ACP) to support students' journey and compliance.
