As an education focussed Associate Lecturer/ Lecturer you will successfully drive educational excellence within the university's teaching and learning communities.As a teaching and research Lecturer (Level B) you will carry out activities to develop your scholarly research and professional activities both nationally and internationally and to contribute significantly to achieving the teaching and service missions of the School and FacultyThe role of Associate Lecturer/Lecturer reports to and has no direct reports.Who You Are:Skills and Experience required as an Education Focused - Associate Lecturer -
  • tertiary qualification or PhD or near completion in a related discipline and relevant work experience;
  • Native or near-native abilities in Japanese language;
  • Experience in teaching Japanese at the tertiary level across beginner to advanced courses;
  • Proficiency in teaching all levels of Japanese language courses
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
  • Demonstrated experience in and passion for teaching and learning design, development and/or delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
Level B -
  • Evidence of and/or preparedness to undertake professional development of teaching practice
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Skills and Experience required as a Teaching and Research - Lecturer -
  • A PhD or near completion in Japanese studies or a discipline relevant to this position;
  • Native or near-native abilities in Japanese language;
  • Experience in teaching Japanese at the tertiary level across beginner to advanced courses;
  • A record of research outputs commensurate with opportunity;
  • Experience in engagement with the academic and teaching community of Japanese studies and language in Sydney and Australia (desirable)
  • Experience in engagement with the local Japanese community (desirable)
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and developments
