An exciting opportunity is available in our ALS Environmental Division at Brisbane – Stafford. We are currently seeking a Part-Time experienced Phycologist –to become a part of a team that strives to exceed customer expectations by delivering quality results on time and managing strong relationships with our clients. On the job training will be provided for the successful applicant.The Day to Day
Responsibilities include:
  • Identification and enumeration of algae using light microscopy.
  • Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions (QWIs).
  • Data review, LIMS entry and reporting of analytical results.
  • Maintaining equipment used for conducting analyses
  • Ensuring the laboratory operates in a clean, organised and safe manner.
  • Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type and sample behaviour.
  • Completing all tasks within the expected client turnaround.
  • Perform necessary overtime as required.
The Essentials
The ideal candidate must be highly enthusiastic with excellent interpersonal skills and possess the following:
  • A Tertiary Science Degree in Microbiology, Biology or related
  • Light microscopy experience is essential
  • Experience working in a NATA-accredited laboratory
  • Previous phycology experience is essential
  • Experience with high throughput and client-focused environment
  • High level of attention to detail, good communication and organisational skills
  • Understanding of good laboratory practices
  • Safety focus.
  • A strong desire to exceed client expectations by delivering quality results on time.
  • A strong learning and succeeding attitude.
