We are here for the long haul.Your Future RoleNew opportunity to join the GS Australia Team, and take a leading role in developing sustainable solutions to better serve the expanding requirements of the Australian Grid.More specifically you will be responsible for:Delivering technically compliant project design solutions for overhead line engineering.Independently leading the preparation of all complex PLS-CADD models on HV Line projects. This includes; the preparation of PLS-CADD line model of complex line design of LV to HV comprising of structural M4 models, carrying out all checks associated with clearances in PLS-CADD and accurately estimating the load for overhead structures using relevant codes of practice.Leading the production of high quality reporting and documentation including but not limited to Route selection & clearance requirements, Tower Modelling using PLS-TOWER, Line profile drawings , Creep and sag/tension calculations, Conductor & insulator selection and capital cost estimates.Understanding the technical risks and challenges of stringing and maintenance (constructibility, maintainability and operability risks) and addressing these in the designs.Independently carry out design checks/ reviews/ technical assurance on assigned Projects, and manage time and cost assigned on individual tasks associated with project delivery.Assisting team leaders/ section leaders to actively contribute in proposal estimation of effort required for modelling and design. About YouBachelor degree in electrical engineering, and registered as a Chartered Engineer or Chartership in progress 10 or more years of experience within a similar role and field Sound working knowledge of key areas in Transmission Line design and HV/EHV Substation design Ability to work both independently and in larger project teams, including virtual teaming with overseas offices Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness and ability to work as part of a multi discipline team Well-developed report writing skills and ability to prepare design reports using Company QA guidelines and procedures.
