SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.The Health and Security Assistant’s primary responsibility is to assist with managing aggressive or absconding residents under the direction of the Registered Nurse or After Hours Centre Manager. In addition, the role will perform a range of Hotel services such as cleaning throughout the facility.
Excellent communication skills, accuracy and attention to detail are paramount to the positionEmployment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate.   • 1. Hold a current NSW Security Licence (Class 1A minimum) and the ability to maintain the security license. Will be required to pass an I.P.A.T screening test before commencing employment.
  • 2. Demonstrated ability to communicate with residents, other members of the public and staff with a courteous and strong responsive customer focused service and an appreciation of confidentiality.
  • 3. Demonstrated knowledge of responsibilities under WHS legislation, demonstrated knowledge of Manual Handling skills, mandatory reporting in Aged Care and professional legislation in relation to the security industry.
  • 4. Ability to work shift work, and successful experience in a team working environment and the ability to work unsupervised
  • 5. Previous experience dealing with aggressive and challenging behaviours and successful conflict resolution.
  • 6. Knowledge of the operations and performance standards of cleaning and food services within a healthcare environment
