Ready to Supervise the SMSF team? We are looking for a Senior Accountant who would like a career step up to Assistant Manager - SMSF.About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Manager to join our Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) team within a Top 50 AFR Ranking Accounting Firm. The role can either be based out of the Brisbane or Sydney office. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to contribute to the growth and success of our SMSF division. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in SMSF administration, compliance, and supervision, with 4-7 years of relevant work experience.Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the SMSF team, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality service delivery
  • Oversee the preparation and lodgment of SMSF annual returns, financial statements, and other compliance documents
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members on complex SMSF matters
  • Conduct regular quality checks on SMSF work to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies
  • Liaise with clients, auditors, and regulatory bodies to resolve SMSF-related issues and queries
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of SMSF processes and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Monitor changes in SMSF legislation and regulations, and ensure the team is up-to-date with current requirements
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior team members to develop their SMSF knowledge and skills
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss SMSF strategies and provide expert advice
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of SMSF services with broader financial planning and accounting offerings
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and key performance indicators for the SMSF division
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation within the SMSF workflow
  • Contribute to business development initiatives and help grow the SMSF client base
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 4-7 years of experience in SMSF administration, compliance, and supervision
  • Strong knowledge of SMSF legislation, regulations, and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in SMSF software platforms and tools
  • Experience in managing and mentoring team members
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification (CA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • SMSF Specialist Advisor (SSA) designation or willingness to obtain
  • Experience with a variety of SMSF structures
