- Organising and control of explosives ensuring that Magazine’s explosives records are always balanced.
- Ensuring the safety of themselves and others when handling or using explosives and their ingredients
- Comply with and enforce the requirements set out in the Standard Operating Procedures
- The supervision of the blast crew including contractors.
- The Preparation and Set-up of a blast area
- Conducting and/or being part of risk assessments with relation to explosive activities
- Ensuring the correct processes for the manufacture of explosives used in the blast is in compliance with legislation.
- The firing and post blast examination.
- Completion of blasting reports and explosives usage reconciliation.
- Responsible for the identification, barricading and reporting of misfires.
- The disposal of damaged or deteriorated explosives in a safe manner.
- Transport of Explosives in compliance with the Australian Code Transport Explosives.
- Organization of maintenance of explosives handling equipment under their control.
- To understand and be able to implement the MRM HSE policies, procedures, and standards.
- Current (state) Shotfirer licence
- Satisfactory Police or ASIO clearance issued within the past 2 years as required
- Training in all appropriate explosives standard operating procedures
- S1, S2 and S3 Risk Assessment and Hazard Management
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
- Dangerous Goods Licence
