Fuse Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Leading Hand Diesel Mechanic to join our client’s Brooklyn-based site. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a well-established and reputable waste management company, providing critical leadership and hands-on expertise in maintaining and repairing heavy diesel vehicles and equipment.Key Responsibilities:
Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of diesel mechanics in a fast-paced workshop
Perform diagnostics and fault-finding on diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components
Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and plant equipment
Coordinate and delegate daily tasks to ensure efficiency and safety
Maintain accurate service records and ensure compliance with safety procedures
Liaise with workshop management on job progress, parts, and resources
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience as a Leading Hand Diesel Mechanic or senior-level technician
Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting skills
Solid understanding of diesel engine systems, hydraulics, and electrical repairs
Ability to lead a team, prioritise workloads, and work to tight timeframes
Excellent communication, organisational, and reporting skills
Flexibility to work overtime and rotating Saturday mornings
