Role summary:Contract role within a technology infrastructure and support team delivering IT infrastructure hardware updates to sites across an operating network.The key aspect of the role is the replacement of all end-of-life Juniper switches with the latest technology Cisco Catalyst switches. This is a hands-on role and will require extensive travel across Australia for the duration of the delivery phase of the project.Operational Requirements:
  • Initial build/configuration of network hardware, including repackaging and labeling, prior to shipping to site.
  • Asset management.
  • Ensure all required hardware, peripherals, and equipment, including tools, are available onsite to perform the installation.
  • Travel to site – depending on the location and project schedule, there may be multiple sites rolled out in one geographical location on consecutive days.
  • Decommissioning and disposal of replaced infrastructure – routers, switches, and peripherals.
  • Removal of packaging and ensuring the site is left clean and tidy.
  • Attention to detail and adherence to VA cabling/rack standards.
  • Update documentation on a daily basis to ensure all relevant information is captured as the implementation work is completed.
  • Work with the Project team to ensure a smooth deployment with minimal or no impact to site operational teams and processes.
  • Adhere to safety standards, operating procedures, policies, and regulations.
  • Abide by and promote appropriate safety behaviors expected by the business.
Knowledge/Qualifications:Must have:
  • Knowledge of IT network architecture spanning routing and switching, wired and wireless.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes (Change Management, Incident Management, etc.).
Great to have:
  • Cisco Meraki knowledge and experience.
Skills:Must have experience in:
  • Network hardware installation and configuration.
  • Ethernet and fiber cable patching, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of communication rack systems including, but not limited to, UPS and PDU.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Great to have:
  • Experience in network transformation projects.
  • Enterprise Data Centre experience.
