Overview:Part-time 0.4 FTE / 14.4 hours per week (Thurs & Fri), Fixed Term position until December 2024Salary Level HEW 6 + 17% SuperannuationBased at the Melbourne CBD campusAbout the roleThe Library Makerspace enhances student learning and research by enabling students to gain hands on experience with technical tools to put learning into practice. It is a safe space where staff and students can share knowledge, explore technology, and practice bringing ideas to life.As Library Makerspace Supervisor, you will be proactively coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Library Makerspace.To be successful in this role, you will have:Extensive specialist experience or broad knowledge in technical operations of Makerspace equipment such as 3D printing, laser cutters, CNC router and 3D scanning and the ability to troubleshoot basic technical equipment problemsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to maintain productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholdersWell-developed organisational skills and the ability to work well under pressure in a busy, outcomes-oriented environmentDemonstrated ability to be self-motivated, work with minimal supervision and exercise initiative and independent judgementProven knowledge and application of OH&S legislation and regulations particularly regarding workshop and studio environments including safe manual handling practicesDemonstrated ability in coordination of staff resourcesExperience in developing and delivering training related to a Makerspace environmentPlease Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children and National Police Check.About the LibraryRMIT University Library is a creative partner in the achievement of RMIT University’s teaching, learning and research goals. It engages with other groups within the University to design initiatives that have a positive impact on the student experience including the provision of direct support, advice and guidance for students’ academic skill development.
