This role is permanent full-time, working 35 hours a week and will be primarily based at our Brunswick Street Depot in Lismore.Reporting to Compliance Coordinator the Senior Compliance Officer is responsible for undertaking complex environmental, regulatory, and business compliance activities and projects for Operational Compliance. The Senior Compliance Officer assists the Coordinator with day-to-day supervision and operations of the Compliance team in line with Council’s procedures, policies, and legislative requirements. Support team members in implementing relevant WHS policies and procedures, and actively identify, mitigate, and report on WHS risks.Follow the organisation's compliance benchmarks and budget goals, aiming for best practice standards when possible. Implement activities and programs in line with compliance benchmarks and budget objectives. Independently manage, monitor, and report on compliance delivery, using tools like 90-day sprints or compliance delivery plansFollow the organisation's project and risk management protocols. Conduct comprehensive research to pinpoint regulatory and compliance needs. Perform compliance audits to detect non-conformities and risks. Offer well-informed recommendations when necessary. Aid operational teams with compliance tasks and remedies. Complete and report on compliance activities promptly. Dedication to identifying and minimising compliance risks and addressing issues. Ensure prompt reporting of compliance risks to management, accompanied by suitable mitigation strategies.Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and customers (internal and external) related to compliance service delivery. Provide thorough information, sound recommendations and compliance support. Complete compliance tasks to support operational areas to maintain compliance and minimise non-conformances. Contribute to a positive and proactive compliance culture.Commitment to fostering a positive, professional, supportive, and constructive team environment. Be flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the team/Council objectives.
