MIDDAY ON MONDAY, 15 SEPTEMBER 2025Job DescriptionHorticulturistsHorticulturists will play a key role in delivering the operational plan for the WA Botanic Garden and surrounding parklands. Working with limited or no supervision, you will be part of the Horticultural Displays team responsible for all aspects of amenity landscape maintenance and the curation of plant collections.Nursery HorticulturistsNursery Horticulturists play a key role in implementing the Kings Park Nursery operational plan. Working with limited or no supervision, you will be part of the Nursey team responsible for all aspects of general nursey maintenance and achieving plant production and conservation initiatives for the Authority.At the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA), we have adopted which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will demonstrate to help drive positive change.Selection CriteriaApplicants should address the selection criteria for the role they wish to be considered for. If you wish to be considered for both the Horticulturist and Nursery Horticulturist roles, you will need to address the selection criteria for both positions.HorticulturistApplicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total. * Demonstrated experience in Horticultural principles and practice, skills in amenity landscape management, and plant collection curation.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for and knowledge of Western Australian Flora.
  • Demonstrated computer and records management skills.
  • Certificate three in Horticulture or higher, or approved equivalent.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to enhance team effectiveness and coordinate horticultural staff and activities.
The following essential criteria will be assessed at some stage during the selection process. * Current “C” or “CA” class driver’s license (“C” class highly desirable)
  • Understanding of occupational, health and safety, and equity and diversity principles.
Nursery HorticulturistApplicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total. * Demonstrated experience in the implementation of sound nursery principles and practices and plant collection curation.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for and knowledge of Western Australian Flora.
  • Demonstrated computer and records management skills.
  • Certificate III in Horticulture or higher, or approved equivalent.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to enhance team effectiveness and coordinate horticultural staff and activities.
