Through using multi-agent agentic systems that empower business customers to focus on what matters most: meaningful, value-enhancing customer interactions.In this roleAs an established Staff Software Engineer, you will be building features that are data-driven and customer-centric, fostering that culture within the Group.Here, you will be working alongside CommBank’s global engineering community in better utilising AI assisted tools and capabilities that builds our business banking functionality. With your Product Engineer mindset, you will be experimenting and training our engineers ensuring the best use of the emerging AI technologies as well as a more positive and productive environment.Key responsibilities also include but not limited to:Experimenting with emerging AI assisted engineering tools and cloud services, providing feedback and insights from real world testingContributing to architectural discussions and propose improvements, role modelling standards and best practicesCollaborating with the team to tackle complex technical problems, contributing to design and implementation to ensure quality engineering outcomesDelivering robust and reusable solutions that integrate seamlessly into other teams’ workflows and productsTranslating requirements into engineering solutions, assisting in breaking down work and creating clarity for team membersActively participating in code reviews, maintain high quality code bases and assist in documentation for knowledge sharingWork on cross-functional projects, ensuring alignment and addressing inter-dependenciesCoaching and mentoring junior members in the teamWe are interested in hearing from people who have:Extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable, maintainable and reliable software solutionsWorking knowledge of AI/ML and Gen AI applications and how they can enhance software engineering processes to improve productivityExperience in developing applications using .NET framework, JavaScript frameworks (Next JS), APIs and databases such as AuroraExperience building RAGs using LlamaIndex, LangChain, or similar frameworks.Experience building Agentic AI systems using AutoGen, SemanticKernel, Pydantic, or similar frameworks is preferredProficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript or C#) and experience developing microservices architecture on cloud platforms (AWS & Azure)A keen interest in researching new AI tooling and you are a daily user of AI coding assistants such as Cursor, Continue, GitHub CoPilot, Aider, Cline, etc.Knowledge of or experience in Anthropic Claude, Llama, LiteLLM, Cursor, windsurf / Codeium, VO Vercel, Continue, Aider, Cline, Langchain, Langgraph, Hugging Face will be highly desirableStrong technical leadership skills and ability to collaborate with stakeholders to solve business-critical problemsAbility to provide technical direction to teams, reviewing designs and code to ensure best practicesProficiency in agile development methodologies and iterative experimentation from ideation to prototype to pilot to productWorking with us:Whether you’re passionate about customer service, driven by data, or called by creativity, a career here is for you.
